Product details

BEST Red X® is a malt that has become synonymous with red-tinted beers and can be employed as high as 100% of the grain bill. Unique German malt with properties of both Munich and Crystal malts. If used at 100% of the grist, it creates a beer with an intense red color. Contributes a rich malty Munich-like complexity. BEST Red X® is perfect to add to your grain bill to produce a subtle reddish tint or an intense reddish hue to your brew.

Great flavor and better color for an amber ale!

Best Red X Munich Malt

I was looking for a darker munich malt and this is it! It has a very malty aroma and an excellent color after mashing.

German Red X Malz

The malt has a nice flavor; it's Munich malt with a caramel 120L sense. It brews with a deep amber tone and mildly sweet taste. I have brewed it as a base malt and mixed it with pale malt, but I'm going to blend it in my next couple of beers, creamsicle, and an Octoberfest. I like it because it's edgy.

Red X Marks the Spot

Great Malt! Made a Vienna lager with this bag. Went all in using the whole bag in a 1bbl batch. Very nice beer. I like this malt. Customers are drinking it regularly. I'll be buying a lot more to add color to some other other recipes. Very versatile malt. Like a Munich with maybe some melanoidin mixed in.

Works well in many different beers

Red X closely resembles a munich malt in flavor. In larger quantities, 60-80%, it can make a beautiful Red IPA, but in smaller quantities, 5-20%, it works in a lot of beers. Classic pale ales, California IPAs and amber lagers are some that I have used it in.
